About The Artist

Lanzhi Wang is a contemporary fine artist whose work grows from a life lived across cultures. Born in China, nurtured artistically in Japan, and now rooted in the United States, she creates paintings, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed-media work that bring Eastern and Western traditions into a thoughtful visual conversation.

A life shaped across cultures

The places Lanzhi has called home continue to shape how she sees: from the cherry blossoms of Nagasaki to the golden poppy fields of California and the luminous tropical landscape of Florida. Nature, memory, and the feeling of place return throughout her work, transformed into color, pattern, gesture, and quiet moments of reflection.

From study to studio

Lanzhi’s academic journey has included studies in Social Work, English Studies, and International Tourism before a passion-led focus on Studio Art. She studied ceramics in Jingdezhen, Dehua, and Liling—regions celebrated for their ceramic traditions—and continued developing her practice in Washington, California, and Florida.

Materials, memory, and process

Working across painting, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media allows Lanzhi to follow each idea into the material that expresses it best. She has a particular love for hand-built ceramics and symbolic illustration, with experience in electric, gas, and wood firing as well as raku and soda firing.

Japanese aesthetics, Ikebana, and the Tea Ceremony inform the serenity and intention of her studio practice. Recurring themes of memory, impermanence, renewal, and the beauty of ordinary life connect her work across mediums.

Art as a bridge

Lanzhi believes art can connect past and present, one culture with another, and people with the quiet beauty that surrounds them. Her work often begins with a fleeting moment—a breeze through blossoms, sunlight across a path, a familiar object carrying a story—and turns it into something that can be held, revisited, and shared.

Creativity in community

As founder of the First Annual West Palm Beach Lantern Festival, Lanzhi has also brought art into community life through workshops and cultural events celebrating creativity, tradition, and togetherness.

An invitation to collectors

Each work is an invitation to pause, look closely, and make room for beauty and reflection. Whether you are discovering Lanzhi’s art for the first time or adding to a growing collection, the hope is the same: that the work becomes a meaningful presence in your life and home.
